title: Why We Created This Product - Development Story description: The development story of the search box keyword expansion plugin, starting from the actual needs of Amazon sellers, gradually expanding to support multi-platform keyword expansion. head:

Why We Created This Product

It was around early 2023, I forget the exact time, a friend of ours who is an Amazon seller proposed this feature to us at our company. He said that given a keyword, you search in Amazon's search box, then search a-z and space in the search box, and Amazon will give many different words. These words are all real search terms from Amazon users, which are very useful for them.

When I heard this, I thought it was indeed a good idea, so I gave feedback to our product manager. But the product manager wasn't very interested in doing it, because our company now makes Amazon store management software, and this feature doesn't have a strong connection to our business, and it wouldn't fit well with our existing plugin.

But I'm the kind of person who likes to tinker around. Since sellers say it's useful, why not give it a try? It's not that difficult. Later, after working on it for two days, I got it done. When the product manager saw it, since it was already completed and looked okay, we put it on the company's plugin.

Logically, this should have been the end of the story, but why did I develop a separate plugin? This was last year, in 2024, I was thinking that cross-border e-commerce platforms aren't just Amazon. Why not expand search box keyword expansion for other platforms as well? So I made the current plugin, which supports Amazon, Walmart, and Etsy. This couldn't be published on our company's plugin because our current business focuses only on Amazon. So I developed a separate plugin.
